It's official...basketball ref's in this area = SUCK

Simple, the governing body dictates our by-laws for the most part and most of the officials that are bad are in what you would say "the good ole boys club" with them. So, get the principals out and then let the association elected its own governing body. Believe me when I say that the "rank and file" are just as tired of it as the fans are.

Stll wouldn't stop the ref from watching the NBA and calling the local games the same way...every other possession. Most people would be happy if we could just go back to knowing what to expect to be called- "reach in", "mugging" or wait for the "drive-by shooting" .And don't forget the camping .

True, but if we were able to govern ourselves independently, then we would be able to "police" ourselves more. What most of the fans don't understand, with the "good ole boy" attitude between the principals and some of the officials in the association, we aren't able to do much about that. Get the principals out and there are enough good officials in the association who will be able to force most of those who consistantly make bad calls clean up their act or leave.

The good officials in the association have been trying to get the principals out for years, but so far we haven't been able to. That is why the formation of the new association last year fell through. The principals wouldn't recognize it because they had no say in how it was governed. I was also against it for the simple reason that I still believe our current organization could become one of the strongest in the state if the principals were to be "purged" so to speak from our ranks.

Most of the officials you all complain about on here would then be forced to "clean" up their act or leave.

Currently, we have no "hands on" clinics in order to improve our mechanics. The ones who do have good mechanics have taken it on their own to either study them or go to independent clinics at their own expense. We have one clinic a year that is mandatory and it is only a review of the rules and current changes.

Our current pay per game varies from sport to sport. For example: last year the pay for a high school baseball/softball game was fifty dollars. Now take me for example, I live in BSG and if I have a game in a place like Council, it takes me about 25.oo dollars to make a round trip witht eh current fuel prices. Add in normal wear and tear on my vehicle and the ocassional stop for food or a coke, that leaves about 10 dollars pay for that trip. Most of the officials usually don't officiate games in their home town, unless there is an emergency situation. I might add that the extreme travel is due in part of the "good ole boy" attitude between principals and some officials.

Some of the current officials in the association have aged to the point that they are unable to physically unable to keep themselve in "position" in order to make a call properly either. You all know who they are.

The bottom line is that you, "the fans" need to help us by getting behind us to get rid of the principals on our governing board.

OK, tell us what actions to take. We do have some good officials. And I know there are no "perfect" games. You guys are human. But just like anything else, one bad apple makes them all look bad. It's time to make the bad apples good.

in response to centindawg -- how are the principals the problem i dont seen to understand either u r a good employee or yr not . We alllll are employees somwehre so how do the principals keep refers from being good employees?????

First of all the officals are not employees of the school system. I want someone to explain why the principles are so hell bent on retaining control of the AOA? Why dont they let the officals have a say so? Why is the commissioner allowed to work games of his choice. This year alone I bet he and his entourage have already worked 30 games. Why isnt he out evaluating officals? Tell me..... If a coach has a problem with his officiating. Who does he complain to? What kind of commissioner says things like.... "Those officals that tried to pirate the AOA will be making long road trips next year."
Its the officals association. So why not let them govern their own?

I figured GC would get a lot of love in the second half and I was right as they were shooting with a little more than 2 minutes left in the quarter.

Do these people just not give a [censored]? In the first game all a player had to do was hold his mouth wrong and the whistle would blow. The second game was a wrestling match with a ball and basket. </div></div>

We will need enough info to help make changes, perhaps where to complain and the refs names before the games.
